This favourite is back again! Lovingly known as “The Hot Tub Wine,” Ehrenfelser is Summerhill’s best-selling wine! The rare Ehrenfelser grape produces a luxurious texture and wildly delicious layers of tropical flavours and aromas. This celebrated rare grape variety thrives in the Okanagan. A great sipper on its own on the patio or in the hot tub. Pairs well with spicy Thai or Cajun cuisine. It also can’t be beat as a turkey dinner wine! $23.95*

Summerhill ages, barrels and finishes wines in a geometrically precise Pyramid. Built with no ferrous metals, no electricity in the chamber, and aligned to True North, the Pyramid is the wine’s temple. This aging period is the final step in the production process when the wine (which is alive, by the way) recovers from bottle shock and is infused with the music of the spheres. The Pyramid connects us to the unseen world of pure form, and to things surpassing the intellect’s understanding.

This exceptional blended Scotch was created by Richard Paterson, Scotland’s only third generation Master Blender. Produced in specially selected first fill oak casks, the seriously satisfying smoothness is achieved through combining oak-aged Speyside, Islay and Lowland malts with superior Invergordon gentle grain whiskies. Pig’s Nose, launched by Spencerfield Spirit Company in 1977 as a stablemate for Sheep Dip, is another award-winner, enjoyed throughout the world.

Colour
Golden sandy highlights. Clear and bright.
Nose
Firm and rich luscious creamy, round tones. The long marrying period has brought these many individual characters into one lasting union. Great harmony ~ soft and full with no ragged edges, smooth and mellow. Plenty of finesse and breeding.
Taste
A positive grip, almost a spicy richness as these great flavours attack the palate, leaving it beautifully rewarded as they drift over. Elegant and distinguished. The delicate Speyside Malts, the heart of the whisky, have played a major part in bringing this quality blend together. $37.95*

Since then it’s won a string of awards. Enjoy the depth of flavour, complexity and mellowness produced by the lengthy 77-day maturation. Flavours of toffee, vanilla and oak perfectly complement the beer’s backbone of luscious malt and fruity hop notes. The oak helps to give Innis & Gunn Original its appealing colour and also mellows the alcohol character, so although the beer is 6.6%, it’s very smooth and easy to drink. $7.95* for 750 ml

It is named for John Mitchell, Howe Sound’s original brewer. The spiced flavours of the Winter Ale make it a great accompaniment to hearty meals and desserts, aged cheeses, and nuts. The re-closable bottle, known as a “pot-stopper,” was widely used in Europe and North America prior to the 1950s. The new combination cap is an innovative design that allows closure by both crown and swing caps. It can be reused and meets green packaging objectives.

The story of The Glencairn Glass & how to appreciate Scotch...

The story of The Glencairn Glass

The reasons behind the Glencairn Glass can be found in almost every bar in the world. Champagne, brandy, wine… each has its own glass. Yet whisky, the world’s most complex spirit can be found served in anything from highball tumblers to wine goblets.

It’s a bit like pouring your vintage champagne into a pint tumbler or your XO brandy into a shot glass!

Whisky is a drink to be savoured. Time spent enjoying the flavours on the nose are equally important as those on the palate. Raymond Davidson decided it was about time someone designed a proper whisky glass…

The perfect glass for whisky was created and left to mature for some twenty years at the bottom of a filing cabinet. After adequate maturation, his sons Paul and Scott decided to take his design to the people who know best… the master blenders!

With their help and support they were able to take the glass around the world and promote it as the Glass for whisky, developed by the whisky industry for the whisky industry.

It’s roots lie in the traditional nosing glasses used by blenders around the world. The unique and stylish shape has been crafted with eminent care, to enhance the enjoyment of whisky. The tapering mouth allows an ease of drinking not associated with traditional nosing glasses whilst capturing the aromas on the nose.

The wide bowl allows for the fullest appreciation of the whisky’s colour and the solid base is designed to be easy on the hand.

Today the Glencairn Glass can be found at every distillery in Scotland, Ireland, Wales as well as most in the USA. It has won accolades from around the world including the Queen’s Award, the highest award for business in the UK.

Importantly it is also beginning to appear in the places it was designed for… the bars!

It may have taken a few hundred years to arrive, but whisky now has a glass of its own… FINALLY!

During the whole of two or three pleasant weeks spent lecturing in Scotland, I never on any occasions saw whisky made use of as a beverage. I have seen people take it, of course, as a medicine, or as a precaution against illness, or as a wise offset against a rather treacherous climate, but as a beverage, never.

“There are seventeen reasons advanced in Scotland for taking whisky. They run as follows: Reason one, because it is raining. Two, because it is not raining. Three, because you are just going out into the weather. Four, because you have just come in from the weather. Five; no, I forget the ones that come after that. But I remember that reason number seventeen is ‘because it canna do ye any harm.’ On the whole, reason seventeen is the best.”
