Is it for a special night out or a lazy Sunday afternoon by the pool? Should you serve it with swordfish or cheese and crackers? Enjoy with your friends or break bread with family?
Yes. That’s the Conundrum. A perfect blend of California white grapes make it the perfect wine, any time.

Conundrum, made by the Wagner family of Caymus Vineyards, stands out as a distinctly different, non-traditional white wine blend of five white grape varietals ~ Chardonnay, Sauvignon Blanc, Muscat Canelli, Viognier and Semillon. The word “exotic” is often used to describe it ~ a fitting portrayal, since there’s no other wine quite like it.

The wine enters round with a Chardonnay weight then quickly lightens up as the Sauvignon Blanc adds a fresh element. The Viognier adds a spicy character with Muscat Canelli and Semillon adding to the layers of flavours. Explore this puzzling wine as rich aromas of honeysuckle escape from the glass, followed by hints of peach, vanilla and citrus notes. On the palate, lush tropical flavours of melon, pineapple and pear are matched with crisp lemon zest and hints of grapefruit. The complexity is brought into balance by a rich, round mouthfeel supported by fresh acidity, creating a stunning, satisfying finish. Here a wine whose complexity is appealing to both red and white wine drinkers ~ a highly styled wine that is excellent as an aperitif, and pairs beautifully with a wide range of dishes including spicy foods and full-flavoured Asian cuisine. $28.95.

19 CRIMES turned criminals into colonists. Upon conviction, British rogues guilty of those crimes were sentenced to Australia rather than death. This punishment by “transportation” began in 1788, and many of the lawless died at sea. The rough-hewn prisoners who reached Australia lived in servitude under the lash. Pioneers in a frontier penal colony, they forged a new country, and new lives, brick by brick. This Shiraz Durif celebrates the rules they broke and the culture they built.
